Before, I wrote of what’s gone on at Diagnostic Imaging Services and the exciting changes and looks for our company. Well, the excitement and the changes continue! We never want to stop and be content with what we do and how we do it, so we continue to look for innovative ways to serve you, our valued guests of D.I.S. and our health care practitioners, who put their trust and your well-being in our hands when they refer you to one of our locations.

We continue to add new procedures. Diagnostic Imaging Services now performs Ultrasound Guided Breast Biopsy exams, Cyst Aspiration procedures, Ductograms and CT Enterography studies to evaluate small bowel disorders such as Crohn’s disease. Our PET/CT service has been registered with the National Oncology Patient Registry, a registry developed in response to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) proposal to expand coverage for PET studies for cancers and patient indications that are not presently eligible for Medicare reimbursement, such as Alzheimer’s disease. As a result, we can perform what is called a PET bone scan that is considered a better scan for recently diagnosed cancer patients, a scan that has shown to have higher diagnostic accuracy and is completed in less time for you, the patient.

We brought in a High Field Open MRI unit, the only High Field MRI in Louisiana in which a patient does not go inside of a tube of some sort and has a wide view of the examination room. We now offer Breast MRI studies and full field-of-view mammography for full-figured or large-breasted women. This often reduces the number of pictures, compressions and radiation exposure needed for the exam to allow the patient to have a more comfortable experience. In summary, my continuing mission is to have Diagnostic Imaging Services strive to be a leading innovator in outpatient imaging services.

We have a radiology staff with over a century of experience.

We offer specific expertise in areas such as neuroradiology (the diagnosis and treatment of brain, spinal cord, head and neck, and vascular lesions), women’s imaging, musculoskeletal imaging (diagnosing pain that affects the bones, muscles, ligaments, tendons and nerves), and thoracic imaging (identifying problems of the upper chest that do not involve the heart).

We continue to strengthen our commitment to our referring physicians.

Diagnostic Imaging Services offers a web-based system where health care practitioners can access test results, reports and images online, usually within one business day of the exam. This information can be viewed anywhere there is an Internet connection, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. One phone call or fax to our call center gives them immediate access to the schedules at each of our facilities. We’re here to help explain our services and modalities, showing how we can complement the standard of care your doctors provide you.

And we will never change our total commitment to service.

We’re very proud of our recently completed Women’s & Advanced Imaging Center complex in Metairie! Now, two separate facilities are now one convenient location inside the Independence Mall. Once you enter our Center, the right wing continues to serve women in providing mammograms, bone density studies, ultrasound services and women’s procedures like biopsy. To the left is a brand new section providing advanced imaging from CT scans to MRI examinations to Nuclear Medicine procedures. Every man, woman and child that comes to Diagnostic Imaging Services for their test will find that to be their experience. If your visit at a D.I.S. facility is not warm, pleasant and sincere, I want to know about it. Every employee knows our charge. Patients are treated with the respect they deserve. Their pre-registration is made simple and any wait times are usually minimal. Their test results are provided to physicians as quickly as possible so any treatment they deem appropriate can begin. We understand. Our family and loved ones are patients, too.

We know that you have a choice in testing facilities. We encourage you to shop and compare prices, and we are very confident you will find our fees to be lower than hospital or outpatient hospital-based imaging centers in the New Orleans area. We’ve got examples – call us at 504-459-3220 and ask us for specific details. In one recent case provided to us, we could have a patient almost $3,500 if she would have come to DIS for her CT versus having it done elsewhere!

In today’s changing healthcare environment, you are being asked to pay more out of your own pocket year over year. It’s your decision on where you go for your imaging. It’s your money out of your pocket!
